Obituaries

Stanley G. Thayer, age 84, went home to with his Lord on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Senior Community Center in Sheboygan.
He was born in Cascade on October 14, 1927 son of the late Raymond and Alice (Abers) Thayer.
Stanley heard the call of his country and joined the United States Army serving from 1945 until 1947. He served in Europe, France and Germany and was in Germany for the countries fall.
On August 20, 1949 he married Audrey Reinartz at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheboygan.
He worked for Sheboygan Falls Die Cast, retiring from Tecumseh in 1989.
He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Plymouth. In his free time he enjoyed hitting the open road on his motorcycle, working on cars, and playing pool.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Audrey, two children, Glen (Connie Schultz) Thayer Corrine Franzen, 2 grandchildren, Russell Franzen Jr., Valerie Franzen (Craig Huebschmann), one great grandchild, Corbin Huebschmann, one brother, Duane (Karen) Thayer, and a sister, Rita (John) Sackett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sister-in-laws, Karen Zimermann and Norma Wolff.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Schneider Funeral Home in Plymouth with the Rev. William Rishel, Pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the Town of Mitchell. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 PM until the time of service.
Full Military Honors will be conducted at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery by the Plymouth VFW Worlds Cheese Center Post #5612.
